The skies looked ominous when the fete opened but it brightened up as the afternoon wore on and nothing dampened the spirits of those who attended. It proved to be a fantastic (and warm) afternoon hugely enjoyed by the kids and grown-ups alike, even if “Wally” did get a little wetter than he expected – courtesy of those fantastic blokes from Sawtry’s Fire Service! Special thanks to the Sawtry Steppers who put on a great Line Dancing display and also to Becky for organising the ever popular Companion Dog Show. Thanks to your generosity and support the Fete raised £1,504.70 which will be shared between St Nicholas’ Church and Glatton Village Hall. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it the fantastic afternoon it was!

From Terry Brignall: I would like to offer a huge thanks to all who contributed to the success of this year’s village Fete & Fun day, whether you helped organize, set up, clear up, manned stalls or games, made cakes or cooked burgers or served coffee/tea/Pimms/beer, etc. or provided cakes or produce or sponsored prizes. The day would not have been the success it was without the brilliant team effort that took place last Saturday. A very special thanks to John & Sue Williams for providing the sausages & prize ham free of charge and also to Ian & Lynn Buckingham for use of their Bouncy Castle and of course to Helen and Jane (for organisation and accounting). Thanks also to the Sawtry Fire Service for being such good sports and to the Sawtry Steppers for a great line dancing demo; not forgetting Becky for a brilliant dog show. The Fete raised a total of £1,504.70 of which £902.82 went to St Nicholas church and £601.88 went to Glatton Village Hall (as per the agreed 60/40% split).
