The Paddington Challenge 2019
It looked like the heavens were about to open as the 22 golfers tee’d off at Thorpe Wood Golf Course yesterday morning. However, the golfing gods smiled on or us and apart from a brief shower, we enjoyed warm sunshine and some spectacular cloud formations as the teams battled it out for the prestigious “fun” trophy! After the ridiculous handicap system was applied (10% of the combined age of the team!), Nigel Allen, Harvey Dhardwar and Jane Brignall emerged as the winning team to earn a generous cash prize! (Nigel Allen is absent from the photo). Steve Smith won the “longest drive” and the two “nearest the pin” awards went to Garry Cope and John Pigott. The day was rounded off superbly with a fantastic meal & “prizegiving” in the Addison Arms. Once again, all those who turned out thoroughly enjoyed the day and laughter and “mickey taking” was not in short supply! Another great Glatton day out!
