Honouring our own D-Day Veteran – Roy Knight

Glatton’s tribute to our own D-Day Veteran, Roy Knight who served in the Royal Navy as a Landing Ship Commander that day.
Thanks for supporting our small tribute go to our County Councillor Simon Bywater, to Liza Nicholson for the wonderful flower arrangement in the shape of an anchor (& the number 75), to Freshlink for provision of their vehicle in stunning D-Day livery and its driver Mick Brewin, and of course to all who attended to thank Roy and contributed to the flowers (& Lambs Navy Rum!!).
Thank you Roy, we live our lives in freedom because of people like you.

N.B. 7th June 2019 – A Message from Roy & Audrey Knight
Roy telephoned this morning and asked that I publish his deep personal appreciation for events last evening. In Roy’s own words “I was so, so, so,so moved by everyones kindness and generousity”. Audrey echoed that view and also asked that her deep thanks were conveyed. There are lots of lovely messages for/to Roy & Audrey on the Facebook album, but perhaps Diane Smith summed it up best (see her post on Facebook). Thank you Diane for your lovely words. Thank you everyone.
