We met at Alconbury at 05:30 a.m. with some cheeky banter and spirts high. Left 06:00.am.
Heavy traffic all the way to Chelsea. Arrived 09:25 a.m and put in the holding area (Battersea Park) to be called across. Some skilled driving by the guys in some very tight places.
Behind the scenes at Chelsea flower show was very interesting, million pound gardens being ripped apart by diggers and very, very congested.
All loaded and done by 15:00 p.m. and a race to the boat at Portsmouth. All booked in and waiting for the ferry Mont St Michel to load on.
We arrive in Arromanche, Normandy, France.
The 6th June 2019 will be the 75th anniversary of the 1944 D–Day Landings.
11th Armoured Division veteran Bill Pendell MM was chosen by D-Day Revisited to represent the Normandy veterans in this garden tribute and he was looking forward to attending the Chelsea Show in May. Sadly, Bill died on the 11th December 2018 aged 97.
Thank you Lee Juniper for the update and photographs.
