  1. A wonderful site that brings back many fond memories! My wife and I are from the US and lived in Glatton for two years (December 2003 to December 2005), renting Mychelles Meade at 40-42 High Haden Road. More importantly, two wonderful British Westies (Gillie and Belle) joined our household while we lived in the UK; both thoroughly enjoyed walking through the Village and visiting neighbors. In particular, Gillie and Belle liked to visit one home that had a little dog named Bobby; our two girls would stand at the front of Bobby’s house yearning for his attention. Joy of joys! on one occasion Bobby’s pet-parents let our girls visit and play with him! After that, rain or shine, we had to stop at Bobby’s gate until we coerced them to go back to our house. It late, but to Bobby pet-parents: we’re so sorry we spent so much time at your gate, but our girls were VERY smitten with your little guy! like I said — we have many fond memories of life in Glatton!

  2. I am searching for the location of the WW2 POW Camp that was at Glatton. Records state that it was based in several locations at the ‘aerodrome’. When I look at online histories of the big US airbase none of them record the pow camp that existed 1945-1948. So, I was wondering if it was at the site just N of High Haden Farm???
The camp had c400pows in 1946 and rose to over 1,200 by mid- / late- 1947.
Can anyone help me? Thank you.

  3. Hello. I attended the Sawtry Chorale Christmas Concert last Saturday, which was an absolute joy. Reverend Becky mentioned a West End Music event that’s taking place on Saturday 19th February 2022 & that tickets would be available on the church website. I can’t seem to find any details & wonder if you can help me please? Kind regards, Ruth King (Upton)

Thank you to everyone in the Stilton, Folksworth & Washingley ward who voted for Marge Beuttell and me to continue to our work as district councillors; thanks too for all the kind messages both during and after the campaign.

At around 18 miles north to south and a similar distance east to west, the ward is one of the biggest in the district so to continue being as local and as focussed as possible, I will remain to be the first point of contact for Stilton, Folksworth & Washingley, Holme, Denton & Caldecote, Great & Little Gidding, Glatton and Connington, with Marge continuing to be the first point of contact for Sibson-cum-Stibbington, Elton, Alwalton, Morborne, Haddon, Water Newton and Chesterton.

The political make-up of the council may have changed but the commitment Marge and I have, to be a strong voice for the residents of north Huntingdonshire, is the same.
